Varnished wood: Varnished wooden items are finished with a protective coating that gives the item its colour and offers protection against stains; spills should still be removed immediately. For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap, wiping in the direction of the grain. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft, clean cloth to prevent spotting. Protect surfaces with coasters or placemats, as heavy daily use or heat can damage the finish.
Teak: Ethnicraft's teak comes without any finish or protective treatment; the wood is polished, allowing its natural oils to rise to the surface. Teak's high density keeps stains from penetrating easily, but spills should still be removed immediately. For regular dusting, use a dry cloth.
